The Streaking Chargers!

After the Colts lost over the weekend, the Chargers is officially the NFL's hottest team with the 10-game winning streak. The Chargers won their 10th straight game by destroying the red-hot Tennessee Titans on Christmas day.

Many believed that the Chargers' defense, who have been vulnerable for most of their games this season, could hurt the team's chances in the playoffs. However, the defense showed on the Titans game that it they can make big plays. They stopped Chris Johnson and Vince Young at key moments in the game. I've said it before and will say it again, I love this "bend, but don't break" defense.

The San Diego Chargers win their 10th straight games by beating the Titans 42-17, they lock up the No.2 seed and a first round bye.

Rivers threw two touchdowns, LT rushes for 2 TDs, Darren Sproles caught 1 TD and ran for two more. They put a stop at the Titans dreams for becoming the first team in NFL history to start the season 0-6 and come back to make the playoffs.

Philip Rivers, an Alabama native, have approximately 70 family and friends in the game. "It did have a little bit, 'You're in your own backyard' feel to it," Rivers said.

He threw for 264 yards and topped 4,000 yards passing for a second straight season. He directed the Chargers to TDs on six out of seven drives before leaving in fourth quarter. Rivers picked apart a Titans defense ranked next to last in the NFL in yards allowed.

Another congratulations goes to LT, he scored a pair of touchdowns giving him his 138th TD of the decade, topping the 136 TDs Emmitt Smith had in the 90's for most in a decade in the NFL.

  • The San Diego Chargers placed center Scott Mruczkowski on the injures reserve, who suffered a major ankle injury against the Cincinnati Bengals. The team is hopeful that standout center Nick Hardwick can come back from injury to play this week against Tennessee. The team also added veteran center Eric Ghiacuic, he has started 42 games in the NFL and was cut by the Chiefs in training camp.
  • Linebacker Shawne Merriman (foot) and defensive end Jacques Cesaire (elbow) did not practice on Tuesday
  • The San Diego Chargers moved up in the NFL Power Rankings. They moved up from the #4 spot into #3, behind only the Colts and Saints.

The Chargers Beats the Bengals, Clinches The West!

It was a very exciting and hard fought game by both teams, but the Chargers pulled off a win in the last minutes.

After the Bengals tied the game with second left on the game, the Chargers rallied when Phillip Rivers moved the Chargers 46 yards in 51 seconds with no timeouts...and Nate Kaeding kicked the 52-yard winning field goal with just 3 seconds left on the clock.

A few minutes later after the win, the Chargers clinched the division when Denver lost to Oakland. The Denver Broncos, who had led the Chargers by 3 1/2 games on Oct. 19 and were favored by many to win the West, lost to the Oakland Raiders with the score of 20-19.

Congratulations to the AFC West Division Champions, San Diego Chargers!

Notes: Vincent Jackson got his second straight 1,000 yard season by having five catches in the game for 108 yards.....CB Quentin Jammer injures a knee and DE Jacques Cesaire injured and elbow.

Chargers News & Notes Week 15

  • San Diego safety Eric Weddle practiced fully Wednesday after missing the last couple of games with a knee injury and is expected to play this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, formerly named Chad Johnson, wants to fight linebacker Shawne Merriman. The two apparently engaged in a Twitter war early this year. Earlier this week when asked, Merriman said he is going to try to not pay attention to Ochocinco this week but maybe difficult.
  • Phillip Rivers is not only a top candidate for the division MVP, but also in the running for whole NFL. If Rivers – who is undefeated in December in his career – finish the month strong, he will definitely get some votes. Rivers is the best player and is the leader of the Chargers. He has the Chargers, who are in an eight-game winning streak, playing at a very high level. This team is without question has taken personality of their quarterback.

San Diego Chargers Beats The Cowboys!

Sunday was a perfect day for the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers beat the Cowboys 20-17 and Denver Broncos, who are the second-place team in the division, and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chargers' competition for the #2 seed and a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs, both lost. San Diego has a two-game lead on Denver with three games to go in the division. And they lead Cincinnati by a game for the #2 seed, which they will play here at home next week.

Chargers Defeats The Browns 30-23!

Despite playing without three injured defensive starters, the Chargers did just enough to get through the Cleveland Browns and extend their winning streak to seven games.

The San Diego Chargers improved their record to 9-3 and still leads the Broncos by one game. The win also kept the Chargers on pace to earn the #2 seed and first-round bye in the playoffs. Although it wasn't a expectacular game, the Chargers did just enough to get by the Brown to prepare for a rugged stretch of their remaining schedule.

The Chargers offense played well again with Rivers throwing over 370 yards and Antonio Gates having over 160 yards receiving, but none had a bigger day than LaDainian Tomlinson. He did not have a huge game, but he made history by surpassing Jim Brown for eighth place on the NFL's all-time leading rushers' list. Congratulations LT....

No Assault Charges Against Cromartie!

San Diego Chargers' cornerback Antonio Cromartie is cleared of misdeameanor assault charges.

Cromartie had been under investigation for assault with a deadly weapon when a bar patron claimed that he was hit in the head with champagne bottle after the team came back home from their victory at Denver.

San Diego police said that there is not enough evidence of the claim that Cromartie threw the bottle at the bar patron.

Chargers Defense Played Relentlessly!

The San Diego Chargers is one of, if not, the hottest teams in the NFL entering December. The Chargers has a six gave winning streak, it is 8-3 and has a one game lead over the Denver Broncos in the division. The Chargers look poised to make a run at the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs and a first-round bye as well.

The win over the Kansas City Chiefs gave the Chargers a 5-1 record against division opponents this year.  The offense played awesome as always, but I have to give the San Diego Chargers' defense some props. The Chargers' defense has been terrific during this winning streak. It has allowed an opponent to score over 20 points just once and surrendered a total of 17 points in the last two games.

The Chargers' defense has been doing a great job of putting pressures on opposing quarterbacks, which the reason for their success of late. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chargers only had one sack but they made Matt Cassell uncomfortable all game. He was pressured into throwing an interception and two fumbles in which he lost one. The lost fumble was returned by Chargers safety Paul Oliver for a touchdown.

Game Against KC Is Facing Blackout

Okay, I have to vent a little. COME ON CHARGER FANS, it's Friday and the game has not been sold out. Our team is in 1st place, playing a division rival, let's buy those tickets. I got mine and I don't really care if they show it on tv, but we have to represent here. Seems like every home game that there are more fans from opposing team. Let's go Charger fans, lets back our team and buy up those tickets. Hope to see you all there....GO CHARGERSSSSSSS.

Chargers Sign Runyan!

It's official, the San Diego Chargers signed veteran free agent tackle Jon Runyan today to the active roster.

Runyan has been one of football's premier offensive tackle throughout his 13 year career. During his career, he has played in two Super Bowls, one with the Tennessee Titans and the other with the Philadelphia Eagles and a Pro Bowl player in 2002. Runyan started every game for the Eagles at right tackle from 2000-08.

This is a great signing, can't wait to see him play.

Chargers going after Runyan!

Awesome news, I read today that the Chargers are trying to sign Jon Runyan, whether this is true or not have not been confirmed. With offensive tackle Jeromey Clary being injured during the Broncos game, which will sideline him indefinitely, the San Diego Chargers are stepping up efforts to sign free-agent offensive tackle Jon Runyan, a source close to the situation said Tuesday.

Runyan was en route to San Diego on Tuesday to see if he could finalize a contract with the Chargers. If this is true, then it would be a great news indeed.

Week 12 - NFL Power Rankings

The San Diego Chargers jump up 2 slots from #8 to #6 on the ESPN Power Rankings and the Broncos down to #13.

The Chargers Beats Up On The Broncos 32-3!

My Chargers stumped on the Broncos, awesome, specially after Josh McDaniels’ trash talking. I know smack talk is a custom whenever they play the Broncos, but for the coach to get involve in it and smacks back saying “We own you” to the Chargers linebacking crew is just ridiculous. Anyways, thank you for firing up our guys coach.

This is the most balanced that I have seen the Chargers all year. The offense, defense, special teams all played well. Philip Rivers played well, as he always does against the Broncos, the running attack has come on, the defense was dominant and special teams stopped Eddie Royal. Not only was this a sweet win for the Chargers, because they beat the Broncos they put themselves in sole possesion of first place in the AFC West and with both the Steelers & Bengals losing: it puts them in a good position in the playoffs. If the season was to end today, they finish at second and will get a first round bye. But there are plenty of games left so for now lets just all enjoy this win and take it one game at a time.
