Sunday was a perfect day for the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers beat the Cowboys 20-17 and Denver Broncos, who are the second-place team in the division, and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chargers' competition for the #2 seed and a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs, both lost. San Diego has a two-game lead on Denver with three games to go in the division. And they lead Cincinnati by a game for the #2 seed, which they will play here at home next week.
Rivers had another masterful game, this time hooking up some big plays with Vincent Jackson. Jackson's production had fallen off the last couple of games, with Gates having the hot hand in those game. But that is how it seems to work with this team, there are so many weapons that they go with who has the hot hands.
The offense was great in this game, but more importantly is that the defense were awesome. I'm really starting to enjoy watching this "bend, but don't break" defense. There was one particular series of plays that really impressed me that most. It's when the Cowboys were on the doorstep of tying the score early in the second quarter. Dallas moved 72 yards in 12 plays to the Chargers 1 yard line. The Cowboys tried to run the ball in 4 times, but the Chargers' defense shut the door and getting the ball back for the offense. The defense bended but they did not break.
